Christine Walters

Christine Lynn Walters, 54, of Swanton died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland.  Born on April 10, 1963 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Marian (Kubin) Neilson and the late Richard Dorn.  She had retired from the finance office of Garrett College and, later, came out of retirement to work as a sales clerk at Wal-Mart.  She attended and volunteered at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Oakland where she started her own AA meetings.  Chris loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing with her family.  She will be lovingly remembered for her kind spirit and the care she took with her family, friends, and especially, Bow the puppy.  In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, George "Fred" Walters; children, Ashley Walters and Bobby Walters of Swanton, and Jennifer Beatly of Baltimore;  grandson, Caleb Beatly; brothers, Richard and Doug Dorn of Baltimore; brother in law, Dicky Smith; and a number of nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, July 21st from 3 to 7 PM.  A funeral service will be held in St. Peter the Apostle Church, 208 S 4th St., Oakland on Saturday, July 22nd at 10 AM with Fr.
