Charles Welch

Charles E. Welch, Sr., 77, of Elk Garden died on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family. Born on January 9, 1940, in Elk Garden, he was the son of the late Edward Garland and May (Oates) Welch. He was a member of the Labor Union Local 379 in Morgantown. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Florence (Parrish) Welch; children, Dwayne Welch and wife Candy, Charles Welch, Jr. and wife Joyce, and Kimberly Cosner and husband Rick, all of Elk Garden; grandchildren, Christopher Welch, Wesley Welch, Darren Welch, Aidan Welch, Jennifer Tasker-Green, Brookelyn Tasker and Dakota Cosner; three great grandchildren, Ashleigh Paugh, Jocelyn Paugh and Westleigh Green; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Dustin Ray Welch; sisters, Geneive Welch, Clara Welch, Effie Seaman, Judy Weese and Mildred Whitacre; and brothers, Elmer Welch and Melvin Welch. Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller, MD on Tuesday, January 31st from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and in the Elk Garden Assembly of God on Wednesday, February 1st from 10 to 11 AM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Shawn McDowell officiating. Interment will follow in the Kalbaugh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Hospice, 457 S. Mineral St., Keyser, WV 26726.
