Charles Munday

Charles Edward Munday, Sr., 95, of Mt. Lake Park died on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born on September 2, 1917 in Weaverton, he was the son of the late Daniel Elmer and Annie (Moss) Munday. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was retired from the State Roads Department, was a member of the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post #71, and had been a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Mt. Lake Park since 1944. He is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Fike and husband Dale of Oakland and Mary Betty Bell of Roswell, GA; grandsons, Richard Fike and Doug Fike and wife Amanda; a granddaughter, Jennifer Dragon and husband Ryan; great granddaughters, Zoe Maris and Jenna Rose; and a sister, Bertha Marshall of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jenny Juanita (Murphy) Munday in 1982; a son, Charles E. Munday, Jr. in 1997; two great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Elizabeth and Lindsay Ann; and ten brothers and sisters. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Sunday, September 9th from 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, September 10th at 10 AM with Rev. Bobby Holcomb officiating. Interment will follow in Garrett County Memorial Gardens with military honors.
