Born on February 9, 1946, at Miners Hospital in Frostburg, MD, he was the son of the late Charles Edward "Chill" Moffatt and Elsie Hobel Moffatt. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Julie Marie Moffatt, on June 12, 1970, and his sister, Linda Moffatt Kight, in 2015.

Denny was an avid walker and a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. He cherished weekends spent playing cards with his family and discussing Fantasy Football strategies. Denny was known for his generosity and kindness.

Denny shared 54 wonderful years with the love of his life, Barbara Braskey Moffatt, who he called Barbie Doll. Together, they spent many years in Florida, Myrtle Beach, Ocean City, and Atlantic City. At home, they treasured their mornings on the porch, drinking coffee, and chatting with their neighbors.
