Charles Emmett "Chuck" McFarland, 87, of Oakland, MD, passed away on December 24, 2010 at Cherry Hill Assisted Living, Accident, MD.
Born June 5, 1923 in Vandergrift, PA, he was the son of the late Emmet John & Gertrude S. (Gumbert) McFarland. He was also preceded in death by sister, Madeline Anderson.
Charles was a WWII Veteran serving with the United States Army. He attended Carnegie Melon, was a member of American Legion & Elks, Oakland Model Railroad Club and St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Chuck retired in 1984, after 33 years of employment as Vice-President of Machinery Sales for Blaw-Knox in Pittsburgh, PA.
Surviving are: wife-Margaret (Robinson ) McFarland, married August 10, 1946; son, Charles Christopher McFarland, Atlanta, GA; daughters, Lisa Rowse, Jacksonville, NC; Jane M. Eboch, Fairfax, VA; grandchildren, Ian and Leslie McFarland, Melissa (Amato), Joshua, Michelle (Bell), Anna & Caleb Eboch.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 318 East Oak Street, Oakland, MD, with the Rev. Jennifer Johns-Gooding officiating. .
Inurnment of his ashes will be at a later date at Vandergrift Cemetery, Vandergrift, PA.
