Charles Haines

March 28, 1927 — June 27, 2016

Charles William "Bill" Haines, 89, of Deer Park passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born on March 28, 1927 in Deer Park, he was the son of the late Charles T. and Flora (Chadderton) Haines. Bill was a 1944 graduate of Oakland High School and was a member of the Deer Park United Methodist Church. He was a gentleman and had many friends. He loved children and many benefited from that love with coins and dollar bills he would give them. He served in the United States Army from 1945-1946 in Germany and France. He was very proud of his service. People would stop him and thank him for his service as he most often wore a cap that said WWII Veteran on it. Bill is survived by brothers John Haines and wife Dortha of Kingwood, WV and James "Jim" Haines and wife Drenda of Cresaptown; a number of nieces and nephews; and longtime companion, Reva Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna E. (King) Haines; one sister, Rosemary Filsinger; and a nephew, Michael "Mike" Filsinger. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, June 30th from 4 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, July 1st at 11 AM with Pastor Terry Cumberland and Pastor Barbara Rexroad officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Deer Park Cemetery. The family would like to thank all the caregivers who gave of themselves and we believe they were all handpicked by God. Memorial contributions may be made to the Deer Park United Methodist Church, 81 Church Street, Deer Park, MD 21550. Charitable donations may be made to:
