Charles H. "Skinny" Bateman, 88, of Deer Park, went to be with his Savior on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Dennett Road Manor. Born on January 5, 1930 in Swanton, he was the son of the late Clarence and R. Grace (Wright) Bateman. Skinny was a retired foreman from the Garrett County Roads Department and a member of Mt. Top Christian Assembly. He never met a stranger and loved to tell stories. Skinny is survived by his son, David L. Bateman and wife Paula of Oakland; two daughters, Sherry E. Moats of Inwood, WV and Cyndi Tichnell of Oakland; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Wiles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lena F. (Nazelrod) Bateman and a brother, Arthur Bateman. In accordance with Skinny’s wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at the Mt. Top Christian Assembly, 2675 Maryland Hwy, Oakland on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 with Pastor William Skipper officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland.
