Charity Elizabeth Janssen, 89, of Swanton died on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland. Born on August 1, 1924 in Sunnyside, WA, she was the daughter of the late Frank G. and Clara G. (Gash) Coleman. She had been an Occupational Therapist and was an active member of the Garrett Lakes Arts Festival, Our Town Theater and the Deep Creek Yacht Club. She is survived by her husband, Jan Walter Janssen; one son, Guy Hinebaugh and wife Hazel of Oakland; two daughters, Elizabeth Forrester and husband John of Swanton and Leslie Hinebaugh and Pete McIver of Equador; two step-daughters, Kaaren Janssen of CT and Nikolina Janssen of CA; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy William Hinebaugh Sr., in 1989 with whom she owned and operated the Hinebaugh Restaurant from 1945 to 1962. Charity was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, January 9th from 4 to 6 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, January 10th at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Dr. Chip Lee officiating. Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
