Cecil Bittinger

Cecil E. Bittinger, 98, of Oakland died on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Dennett Road Manor. Born on January 12, 1920, in Oakland, he was the son of the late Truman and Sally (Beckman) Bittinger. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Mr. Bittinger was a farmer all of his life. He was a lifetime member of the Garrett County Historical Society, had been president of the Garrett County Farm Bureau, and had served on the Board of Directors for Southern States and Agway. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Arletta “Anna” (Riley) Bittinger; two sons, Don Bittinger and wife Linda and Doug Bittinger and wife Dawn, both of Oakland; grandchildren, Dale Bittinger and wife Katie, Angie Rush and husband Jason, Tonia Racer and husband Dave, Chad Bittinger and wife Shannon, Corey Bittinger and wife Jo, Tommy Ritchey and wife Candy, Michael Ritchey and wife Stephanie, Deana Ritchey, Dianne Fisher and husband Jeff, and Andy Chirchirilla; and numerous great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Harold “Ben” Bittinger and Edith Markley; he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Saturday, February 10th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home on Sunday, February 11th at 2 PM with Pastor Bobby Holcomb officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
