Carson Denver Miller, 94, of Oakland died on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born on June 8, 1919, he was the son of the late Andrew J. and Nellie (Martin) Miller. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II and, prior to his retirement, had been a Line Engineer for C&P Telephone. He was a member of the American Legion and the Telephone Pioneers. In addition to spending time with his family, Mr. Miller enjoyed gardening and home remodeling projects. He is survived by a daughter, Ann Elaine Sweitzer and husband Melvin of Swanton; a son, Larry C. Miller of Laurel; grandchildren, Barry E. Sweitzer and wife Mary-jo, Scott Sweitzer and wife Robin, Logan Miller, Lindsey Miller and Stacey Lopez; and great grandchildren, Seth and Alexis Bagley, Carson and Mauriana Sweitzer, Karly, Kara and Kate Sweitzer, and Ella Lopez. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Alice "Irene" (DeWitt) Miller, in 2001; five brothers, Melvin, Gordon, Reed, Cecil and Carroll Miller; and one sister, Kathleen (Miller) Sutphin. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Tuesday, June 10th from 11 AM to 2 PM at which time a funeral service will be held with Rev. Ross Glotfelty officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
