Carolyn Tasker

Carolyn Marie (Helmick) Tasker, 70, of Oakland died on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Garrett Memorial Hospital. Born on December 2, 1942 in Bayard, WV, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin L. and Mary C. (Bonner) Helmick. Carolyn was employed at Bausch and Lomb for several years and most recently, worked at Walmart. She enjoyed spending time with her family while cheering on her favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr., during races or watching Steeler football games. Carolyn was also fond of bowling and playing bingo with friends. She is survived by her husband, Roger L. Tasker, Sr.; five children, Debra Knotts and husband Allen of Berkeley Springs, WV, Catherine Hryn and husband Robert of Curwensville, PA, Diane Clark and husband Franklin of Frostburg, MD, David C. Ridings, Jr. and Redonna Jean Davis of Oakland; one sister, Claretta Jean Hawk; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and one grandson, Ronald D. Slabon, Jr. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A. 21 North 2nd St. Oakland on Thursday, January 10 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 11 at 10 AM at the Loch Lynn Church of God (old building) with Pastor Ivan Ackerman officiating. A private interment will follow in the Tasker Cemetery, Steyer Mine Rd., Oakland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
