Carolyn Carrie Persinger, 81, of Oakland, died on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at UPMC Western Maryland Hospital. Born on July, 17, 1941, in Marietta, OH, she was the biological daughter of the late Fredrick Howard and Beulah (Mercer) Zehm.
She was a CNA at Garrett Regional Memorial Hospital and retired after 24 years of service. She attended the Rosedale Apostolic Church of Oakland under Pastor Ralph Jacks for 22 years until his retirement. She continued in that church affiliation until merging into Calvary Tabernacle of Oakland Campus under Pastor Crites.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Claude "Tom" Persinger; a daughter, Etta Sterling and husband Chris; two granddaughters, Lori Burns, and Claudia McComas and husband Jesse; six great grandchildren; a brother, Roger Cottrell and wife Wanda; and a sister, Patsy Carter and husband David.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Ted Zehm and wife Johnny, John Zehm, Bob Zehm, Larry Zehm, and Walter Cottrell; and one granddaughter, Ashley "Buggy" Johnston.
Friends will be received on Monday, August 8, 2022, at the Calvary Tabernacle, 600 Spruce St., Oakland, MD, from 10 AM to 12 PM. A funeral service will be held at 12 PM, in the church, with Bishop Pascal Crites officiating. Interment will follow at Garrett Memorial Gardens.
