Carlton Lee "Curly" Stahl of Princeton, WV, formerly of Bayard, WV died Thursday March 25, 2010 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA.
Born April 24, 1937 at Crellin, Maryland he was the son of the late Cyrus and Ida Simmons Stahl.
Mr. Stahl was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the US Army. He was a retired coal miner with the Island Creek Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA. Mr. Stahl was a member of the B.P.O.E. in Oakland, Maryland and was a life member of the VFW in Mt. Storm, WV and had served as Commander and Vice- Commander. While living in Princeton, he attended the Princeton Church of God and enjoyed being a volunteer with the Appalachian Teen Challenge Program in Athens. Mr. Stahl loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and spending time with his many woodworking projects.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Broadwater Stahl, a son Allen Stahl and one brother, Glen Stahl.
A loving father, grandfather, & friend he is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Nickels Robins Stahl of Princeton, WV; Four children and spouses; Carlton "Pete" & Anna Stahl Jr., Amanda & Ronald Bolyard, Cindy & Dallas Flesher and Kevin & Pam Stahl; 10 grandchildren, three step children and spouses; Lisa & Ricky Swaney, Susan & Anthony Bates, Kimberley & Robbie Catron; 9 step grandchildren, 1 step great grandson, siblings; Robert Stahl of Virginia Beach, VA, Ellen Anthony of Bayard, WV, and Betty Parks of Kingwood, WV.
Family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home 21 N. Second Street, Oakland on Monday March 29, 2010 from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday March 30, 2010 at 1pm. Internment will be in Bayard Cemetery.
