Carlton Carroll Sanders, Jr., 71, of Red House, MD, formerly of Horseshoe Run, WV, went to rest high in that mountain on May 5, 2017. He is survived by two sisters, Jeanette (husband Al) and Marilyn (husband Don), one brother, Shaun (wife Clara) and a host of nieces and nephews. He was particularly close to and resided with his niece, Mary. In addition to family, Carroll leaves behind too many friends to name. He was preceded in death by his father, Carlton, his mother, Hazel, and brother, Colin.
Carroll was a bluegrass fan, miniature hobbyist, former farmer, and a story teller. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Red House. The “Colonel” was loved by many; his passing leaves an empty spot at kitchen tables, on front porches, and in the hearts of the many people who loved him.
Friends will be received, Monday, May 8, from 4-8 PM at Hinkle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held, 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 9, at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Red House with a visitation held prior to the service from 10-11 AM, with the services officiated by Rev. Regina Beard. Interment will follow in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery of Red House. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.hinklefuneralhome.com
