Carlos Bolyard

Carlos B. Bolyard, 79, of Oakland died on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center in Cumberland. Born on December 21, 1934 in Oakland, he was the son of the late Jay Wade and Ilene (Carder) Bolyard. He was a veteran of the United States Marines and was a carpenter who had worked for Beachy Lumber. He was a faithful member of Apostolics of Oakland and was known as a man who deeply loved his family and his church. He is survived by six children, Carlos A. Bolyard and wife Laura of Oakland, Perry J. Bolyard and wife Margie of Horseshoe Run, WV, James O. Bolyard and wife Pamela of Oakland, Shelbadean L. Harvey and husband Jeff of Deer Park, Sheiladean I. Bolyard of Oakland, and Josephine G. Sweitzer and husband Dave of Oakland; fourteen grandchildren, Georgie Friend, Lynn Yommer, Sharron DeWitt, Clarice Brown, Beth Paugh, Carlos Brown "BB" Bolyard II, James O. Bolyard Jr., Madison Bolyard, April Hebden, Alisha Harvey, Kenny Landis, Justin Landis, Lil' Davey Sweitzer and Levi Sweitzer; thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Imogene Weeks and Edith Dagorn of FL; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelbadean (Lewis) Bolyard, in 2005; two grandsons, Michael Anthony Bolyard and Wyatt Allen Harvey; and three sisters, June Bowman, Dotty Knotts and Gloria DeWitt. Friends will be received at the Apostolics of Oakland, 600 Spruce St., Oakland on Monday, April 28th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and on Tuesday, April 29th from 10 to 11 AM at which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Aaron L. Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens with military honors accorded by the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post 71 and the Deer Park VFW Post 10077. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Apostolics of Oakland. The Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland has been entrusted with the arrangements.
