Carl Thrasher

Carl W. Thrasher, 90, of Deer Park died on May 29, 2012 at Oakland Nursing and Rehab Center. Carl has finally achieved his goal of joining his dear wife, Helena (Perando) Thrasher, who died in 2011.

Born on October 19, 1921 in Deer Park, he was the son of the late John Robert & Grace Grover (Marley) Thrasher. Carl graduated from Oakland High School in 1940. He was a US Navy veteran having served in World War II. He attended electrician's school in St. Louis, MO and attended boiler-maker school in Tacoma, WA. He served aboard the aircraft carrier US Crotan as Electrician Mate #2. Carl retired as a shop foreman for the county roads department. He was the last Charter Member of the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Company, a fifty year member of Oakland Lodge #192 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, Deer Park VFW #10077, American Legion Proctor Kildow Post #71 of Oakland, charter and fifty year member of the Knights of Phythians of Deer Park having served as the Chancellor Commander and the Deer Park United Methodist Church.

He is survived by a sister, Margaret Stevas and lots of neices and nephews of whom he and Helena lovingly referred to as the children they never had. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lambert and Harrison Thrasher; and sister, Frances Comp.

Friends will be received on Friday, June 1st from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 2nd at 10 AM with the Rev. Barbara Rexroad officiating.

Interment will follow in Deer Park Cemetery will full military honors accorded by the American Legion Proctor Kildow Post #71 and the Deer Park VFW Post #10077.
