Carl Summerfield

Carl Ray Summerfield, Sr., 82, of Beverly, WV passed away July 28, 2017 at Nella’s Nursing Home in Elkins, WV. He was born May 27, 1935 in Hendricks, WV a son of the late Odis Riley and Bessie Ellen Long Summerfield. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ruth Summerfield, five brothers, Jack, Roger, Golden, Charlie, and infant brother, Odis, four sisters, Barbara Jean, Alberta, Freddie, and Flora. He is survived by three sons, Carl Ray (Debra) Summerfield, Jr., Wardensville, WV, Danny Eugene Summerfield, Saint Mary’s, WV, and Buddy Lynn Summerfield and companion Mia, Elkins, WV, three daughters, Bobetta Presutti, Beverly, WV, Tammy (Rick) Haden, Beverly, WV, and Bettina Summerfield and companion Marshall, Elkins, WV, three brothers, Lonnie, Doyle, and Ben, two sisters, Rachel and Ruby, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Summerfield was a veteran of the United States Army, he served from 1954-1962 and was stationed in Germany. He worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. After retirement, he worked with SCSEP program for Monongahela National Forest and Central WV Aging Services for Camp Pioneer. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially camping. He took great pride in the upkeep of his campsite. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Friends will be received, at Hinkle Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 1st, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, the funeral hour, with Rev. Jim and Donna Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Storm Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.hinklefuneralhome.com
