Boyd Friend

Boyd Albert Friend, 84, of Mountain Lake Park, died on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born on January 5, 1930 in Oakland, he was the son of the late Benjamin H. and Meadie (Timmerman) Friend. As an independent contractor, Boyd was an electrician, plumber and proprietor of Boyd A. Friend Contracting. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Elizabeth (Lewis) Friend; two children, Charles "Chuck" Friend and wife Lois of Oakland and Lois Bailey and husband Gary of Jacksonville, MD; four grandchildren, Jennifer Friend-Robinson and husband Rob, Ben Friend and wife Brittany, Zach and Zoe Bailey; one great granddaughter, Makenzie Friend and a sister, Mary Shafer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Maxine Kauten, Nina Liller, Beulah Wilt and Sara Thurston; three brothers, William, George, and Clifford Friend. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. 2nd St., Oakland on Friday, October 24th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, October 25th at 1 PM with Pastor Steve Sauder officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad, PO Box 378, Oakland, MD 21550.
