Bonnie Mahaffey

Bonnie Elizabeth (Haigh) Mahaffey, 93, of Oakland, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Dennett Road Manor.  Born on August 17, 1924, in Cranesville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Martha (Feathers) Haigh.  Bonnie graduated from Terra Alta High School and attended Columbia Biser College in Pasco, WA.  She was a member of the Pythian Sisters of Oakland.  Bonnie was a caregiver and managed East View Care Home.  Bonnie is survived by two sons, Patrick Messenger of Hilo, HI and Michael Messenger and wife Jill of Lincoln, CA; grandchildren, Charlie, Pony, Scott, Emily and Duke; great grandchildren, Evan, Gavin and Malia; five nieces; three nephews and many cousins and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Messenger; and four siblings, Regina Dewitt, Barbara Freeland, Thomas and Joseph Haigh.  In accordance with Bonnie’s wishes, she will be cremated and a celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 12-4:00 PM at the River of Life Church, 304 Toy Street, Terra Alta, WV 26764.  Bonnie’s family would like to thank Wanda Secrist, Annie Steyer, Kathy Michaels and Martha Moore for the care and devotion shown to their mother. Arrangements have been entrusted to the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland, MD.  www.csfredlockfh.com
