Bonnie Douglas

July 12, 1929 — February 2, 2015

Bonnie Houser Douglas, Phd, 85, of Bellefonte, Kentucky, passed away at Trinity Station on Monday, February 2, 2015.

She was born on July 12, 1929 in Akron, Ohio  to the late Wade and Maxine Close Hauser.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles Lee Douglas, Sr., a  daughter Susan Douglas Hahn, brothers James Houser and  William Hauser;   and a sister Mary Kelly.

She received a BSN from Alderson-Broaddus school of nursing, Master's from West Virginia University in counseling and guidance education;  She attended Morehead State University;  received her doctorate in education from Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale;  attended Ashland Community College in Kentucky and Marshall University in Huntington;  received her nursing master's from Ohio State University in Columbus.    She was retired from Marshall University where she was a Professor of Nursing;  clinical instructor at Allegheny Community College in West Mifflin, PA;  Instructor at College of San Mateo, San Mateo, California;  director and instructor of psychiatric and surgical nursing, Kings Daughters' Hospital School of Nursing, Ashland, Ky;  instructor at Fairmont State University;  administrative supervisor at West Virginia University;  supervisor and instructor of obstetrical nursing at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown;  clinical instructor, St. Mary's hospital School of Nursing, Clarksburg; and staff nurse to Nellis  Air Force Base in Las Vegas.   She was a member of the Bellefonte Presbyterian Church.   Golfing was her passion.  She also traveled to Australia, South American, Japan, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and England.

She is survived by her son Charles Lee Douglas, Jr. and wife Betty of Russell, Ky.;  sisters Patricia Stemple, Dean (Scott) Sisler, Beverly "Kitty" Myers all of Aurora, WV., and Doris Dennison of West Palm Beach, FL.;  three grandsons James Michael Hahn II of Louisville, Ky., Charles Lee Douglas III and wife Jessica of Aurora, WV. and Matthew Ryan Douglas of Lexington, Ky.

There will be a visitation on Thursday evening ,  February 5, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel, Ashland, Ky.    Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Stemple Ridge Church in Aurora, WV. with a visitation from Noon until service time on Sunday.  There will be a visitation  on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the  Memorial Bldg. in Aurora, WV.  from 1:00-4:00 PM and from 6:00-8:00 PM.
