Birdie Jean Amtower, 83 of Elk Garden, WV, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, December 3, 2010 at Western Maryland Health System.
Born September 29, 1927 in Kitzmiller, MD, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Naomi (Harvey) Fike. Birdie was also preceded in death by her husband, Olen H. Amtower, brothers, Russell Fike, William Fike, Sid Fike and sisters Ruby Murphy, Vera Cook and Macel Rawlings.
Birdie's greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Emoryville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are: son, Gary Amtower & wife, Cindy, Keyser; daughters, Karen Ray & husband, Ron, Elk Garden, Linda Sue Wallace & husband Rick, Augusta, WV; brother, Thomas Fike, Kitzmiller, MD; grandchildren, Leesa Moreland & husband, Mark, Mt. Storm, WV, Jennifer Fazenbaker & husband Kenny, Westernport, MD, Buffie Kulton, Winchester, VA; step-grandchild, Michele Savage & husband, Barry, Friendsville, MD; great-grandchildren, Megan Calcamp, Samuel & Lang Kulton and Chelsee & Brandon Moreland, several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church Street, Kitzmiller, MD, Sunday, December 5, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gloria Georg officiating.
Interment will be in the North Hill Cemetery.
