Billy Conrad

Billy James Conrad, 85, of Aurora, WV, passed away on July 22, 2024, at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on August 31, 1938, in Orlando, WV, he was the son of the late Emmett Conrad and Rethe (Vankirk) Conrad.

Billy graduated from Burnsville High School in 1958, he then served in the United States Army until 1961, and was married to his beloved wife on July 21, 1962. He worked at Lockheed Aircraft, the North Branch and Laurel Run Mines, and retired from the Consol Energy Coal Mines. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 71, Oakland, MD, and was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and working on and building guns, and his most precious time was spent with his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ressie L. (Wine) Conrad; his son, David Alan Conrad; two grandchildren, Daniel James Conrad and wife Amanda, and Zachary Alan Conrad; a brother, Charles Lane Conrad of Augusta, GA; and a sister Beulah Ford, of New Middletown, OH.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gary James Conrad; four brothers, Eugene, Raymond, Junior and Johnny Conrad; and one sister, Pauline Conrad.

Friends will be received on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 5 to 8 PM at the Aurora Memorial Building. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11 AM in the Aurora United Methodist Church with Pastor Tony Conrad officiating. Interment will follow in the Aurora Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
