Betty Jean Preble, 84, of Canaan Valley, WV died June 20, 2015 at Granville Manor in Parsons, WV.
She was born August 27, 1930 in Charleston, WV a daughter of the late Owen and Hazel M. Barker Henley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Preble. Survivors include one son, Doug J. (Debora) Barker, Hillsboro, WV, one daughter, Janie (Chris) Vickers, Columbus, OH, one brother, Roger Henley, Murrells Inlet, SC, two sisters, Margaret Johnson, Charleston, WV, Janet Fitzsimmons, St. Albans, WV, an aunt, Sylvia Barker and her daughter, Kathy Cook, Kanawha City, WV, three grandchildren, Megan Hudson, Josh Vickers, Jeff Vickers, Austin Vickers, Brooke Vickers and two great-grandchildren, Joseph Hudson and Skylar Hudson.
Betty was a member of the Canaan Valley Women’s Club, Canaan Valley Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and Buena United MethodistChurch. She was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting and needlework. Betty established the Preble Fund through the Tucker Community Foundation that gives scholarships to students entering college.
