Betty Smith

Betty J. Smith, 83, of Oakland, MD, passed away April 14, 2023, at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on August 13, 1939, in Hutton, MD, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Regina (Waybright) Gank.

Betty worked at Browning's Grocery Store in the Deli Department for over 35 years. She was a member of Lakeside Assembly of God Church. She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by four children, William Smith and wife Romona of Cottondale, AL, Thomas Smith and wife Babette of Oakland, Bobby Smith of Oakland, and Darrin Smith and wife Claudia of Oakland; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and two siblings, Geraldine Biser and husband Wayne of Oakland, and Gerald Gank and wife Phyllis of Oakland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby W. Smith.

Mrs. Smith's request for cremation will be honored. A chapel service will be held at 11 AM, on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Garrett County Memorial Gardens, 881 Memorial Drive, Oakland.
