Betty Lou Hanlin, 75, a 50 year resident of Pasadena and originally of Garrett County, died on February 29, 2016 at Severna Park Genesis. She was born on June 17, 1940 in Gorman, MD to the late David L. and Maryland V. Butts (nee Rotruck). Mrs. Hanlin worked for the US Postal Service for 22 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included camping, crocheting, photography, fishing and cooking. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her step-mother Norma Eileen Butts (nee Moon) and brothers Harry and Richard Butts. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lawrence D. Hanlin, her children Debra Gauss and her husband Mike of Centerville, MD, Larry Hanlin, Jr. and his wife Vicki Sparks of Pasadena, MD and Gary Hanlin and his wife Susan of Centreville, MD, and a brother Joe Butts of Garrett Co., three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Friends may call on Wednesday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home, P.A. and Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home. P.A. in Kitzmiller, MD where a funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM. Interment will be in the Kalbaugh Cemetery in Elk Garden, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tate Cancer Center 305 Hospital Drive Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
