Betty Bowman

Betty Sue Bowman, 82, of Swanton, passed away on March 3, 2024, at Garrett Regional Medical Center. Born on September 20, 1942, in Coffee County, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Jewell (Norwood) Salter.

On July 29, 1963, Betty married the love of her life, Gilbert Bowman, who preceded her in death. She pursued the life of a homemaker and also cleaned houses. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and baking pecan pies.

She is survived by her children, Gilbert Michael Bowman and wife Dawn, of Accident, Sheila Rhodes and husband Howard, of Oakland, and Monte Bowman, of Swanton; grandchildren, Samuel Levi Bowman and wife Tiffany, Melody Marie Piper; great grandchildren, Emilee and Tucker Bowman, and Aeris and Athena Gover; and siblings, Jimmy Salter of Enterprise, AL, Rebecca Ann Erickson and husband Kenneth of Decatur, AL, and Cindy Salter of Alburn, AL,

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Gilbert Michael Bowman II; siblings, Randolph Salter and wife Delores, Linda Bowden and husband Jim, Deborah Hutcheson and spouse Alison, Dewey Salter, Jr., Billy Dale Salter, and Lomax Eugene Salter.

Betty will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. The C&S Fredlock Funeral Home P.A., Oakland, is honored to be serving the Bowman family at this time.
