Betty Beckman

Betty Evelyn Beckman, 90, of Oakland went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on July 13, 1927, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Ira Wheat and Elma Naomi (Shaffer) Weeks. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed needlepoint, playing cards and bingo at the nursing home. Family was Betty’s greatest joy and her children and grandchildren will cherish wonderful memories for years to come. She is survived by her children, Larry Beckman and wife Pauline, Deb Finch and husband Bob, Mary Ann Murphy and husband Jeff, Kevin Beckman and wife Robin and Keith Beckman and wife Emilee, all of Oakland; a daughter in law, Louise Beckman of Oakland; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three sisters, Henrietta Mills and husband Bob of Ohio, Isabelle Schmidt of Oakland and Mae Antkievicz and husband Frank of Virginia; two brothers, Richard Weeks and Walter Weeks and wife Harriet, both of Oakland; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur E. Beckman; a son, Arthur A. Beckman; a grandson, Brandon Beckman; and two brothers, James and Donald Weeks. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2ndSt., Oakland on Saturday, June 16, from 5 to 8 PM and at the Pleasant View Baptist Church, 8931 Garrett Hwy., Oakland on Sunday, June 17, from 1 to 2 PM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastors Wally and Mark Weeks officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
