Bertha Thayer

Bertha Elizabeth (Liller) Thayer, 86, of Loch Lynn passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at her home.  Born on January 4, 1932, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Errice O. and Mary Belle (Moon) Liller.  Bertha was a graduate of Oakland High School.  In earlier years, she had helped keep house for several local families and then worked in food preparation for the Meals on Wheels program with the Mary Browning Center, from which she retired at age 82.  She was a faithful member of the Faith Evangelical Free Church.  Bertha was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who will be remembered for love of God and family.  She is survived by two children, Patricia A. (Thayer) Custer and husband Bob of Deer Park and George Edward “Eddie” Thayer of Brooksville, FL; five grandchildren, Jared William Custer, Aimee E. Custer, Brenton E. Thayer, Sierra L. Thayer and Angelina Glotfelty; five great grandchildren, Domenick Oliverio, Axel Grant Burns, River Thayer, Bowie Thayer and Malachi Thayer; a sister, Lucinda (Liller) Shaffer; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Thayer, Sr.; a grandson, Joshua Grant Custer; a daughter in law, Janet Thayer; and siblings, Robert Liller, Clara (Liller) Weeks, Irven Liller, Delbert Liller, Elmer Liller, Clyde Liller, Maxwell Liller, Jenny Ruth Liller and Ralph Eugene Liller.  Friends will be received at the Faith Evangelical Free Church, 1009 Maryland Hwy., Oakland on Saturday, March 10th from 11 AM to 2 PM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastor Jeff Kroll officiating.  Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Garret County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550 or the Joshua Custer Memorial Fund, c/o 317 Filsinger Ln., Oakland, MD 21550.  The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland has been entrusted with arrangements.
