Bernice Leota Baker 82 of Oakland, died Sunday June 13, 2010 at her home.
Born November 1, 1927 she was the daughter of the late John and Melva Schrock Opel.
Bernice was employed with Garrett County Memorial Hospital as a nurses aide and in her later years served as a hospital volunteer. She was also a life long member of the Glade Mennonite Church.
She is survived by her sons Danny and his wife Barbara of Oakland, Roger and his wife Teresa of Oakland; Daughter Elaine Baker of Oakland, two brothers Park Opel of Bittinger, and Donald Opel of Grantsville; and ten sisters Erma Stephens of Oakland, Nora Evans of Oakland, Eva Miller of Bittinger, Thelma Yoder of Bittinger, Viola Yommer of Grantsville, Marie Eisentrout of Fredericksburg, VA, Jean Dewitt of Oakland, Jody Bender of Iowa, June McCann of Albright, WV, and Hazel Maust of Bittinger. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home 21 N. Second Street, Oakland on Wednesday, June 16 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 17 at 11:00 at the Glade Mennonite Church with the Rev. Brent Secrist officiating. Internment will follow in the Glade Mennonite Cemetery.
