Bernadine Bachtel

Bernadine Adaline (Roth) Bachtel, 90, of Eglon, WV, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family on June 26, 2022. Born on December 9, 1931, in Horse Shoe Run, WV, the daughter of the late Willie Wesley and Grace Nelvina (Rembold) Roth.

Bernadine was a homemaker, hardworking farm girl, wife and mother of six children. She was a member of the Bethel "Texas" United Methodist Church and also a member of the Farm Women's Circle. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Treasurer and a trustee of the Church. Bernadine was always very active in the church and loved to sing whenever she had the opportunity. She loved hosting family gatherings and she always made sure everyone was well fed. Never meeting a stranger, she welcomed everyone into her home.

Left to cherish her memories are three sons, William "Bill" Bachtel and wife Dianna, Larry Bachtel and wife Jayne, and Gary Bachtel and wife Denise; three daughters, Brenda Cassidy and husband Jack, Eugenia Cassidy, and Twila Amtower and husband Vernon; ten grandchildren, Teresa Bittinger and husband Scott, Shelly Cassidy-Long and husband Mike, Kelly Cassidy and companion Brandon Mitter, Tammy Parsons and husband Leonard, Jason Wood and wife Shawnda, Matthew Bachtel, Amanda Sharp and husband Justin, Ashley Bodkins and husband Josh, McKayla Bachtel and friend Robert, and Willie Bachtel and companion Nikki, and thirteen great-grandchildren, Stephanie Wilson and husband Jimmy, Daniel and Michael Parsons, Brandon, Natalie and fiancé Aaron, and Quentin Wood, Willie, Alex, and Cassidy Sharp, Abigail and Rachel Bodkins, John, Lonnie, and Jimmy Junkins, and one great-great-grandchild, Adalynn Wilson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on July 25, 2020, Ernest Eugene Bachtel, whom she married on August 9, 1948. Also preceding her in death are two brothers, Chester Roth and wife Glenomi and Charles Roth and wife Carole Sue; a great-grandson, Maison Sharp.

The family would like to thank the Amedisys Hospice Group for all the love and care they showed their family through this time and the wonderful services they provided.

Friends will be received Wednesday, June 29, 2022, from 10 am to 12 pm at Bethel "Texas" Church. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm with Pastor Sabrina Tenney officating. Interment will follow in the Texas Cemetery. The Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Bachtel Family at this time.
