Bernadette "Bernie" Hottle, 88, of Elk Garden, WV died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland. She was born on June 21, 1926 in Elk Garden, the daughter of the late John Joseph and Margaret E. (Hickey) Droppleman. She was a cook for 18 years at the Elk Garden School. Bernie loved to cook, bake and was an avid Jeopardy and sports fan. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth "Babe" Hottle; four daughters, Margaret Day of Grantsville, Jane Stewart and husband Donnie of Elk Garden, Rita Braithwaite and husband Bill of Elk Garden, and Tammy Gillaspie and husband Dave of Elk Garden; eight grandchildren, who were the joy of her life, Crystal Hall and husband Brad of Chesterfield, MO, Brandon Day and wife Jodi of Ridgley, WV, Marshall and Louie Stewart both of Elk Garden, Samatha Jackson of Elk Garden, Kenny Braithwaite of Elk Garden, David Gillaspie of Thomas, WV, and Brandi Gillaspie of Elk Garden; five great-grandchildren, Lacy Bowman, Matthew and Jordan Stewart, Sophie Hall and Hadley Day; one great great grandson, Brantly Bowman; a sister, Peg Kalbaugh; a special friend and care giver, Connie Paugh and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers, Paul, Pete, Mike, Bill and Jim Droppleman; three sisters, MaDonna Sticher, Mary Sherwood and Norma Droppleman. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller on Wednesday, April 8th from 6 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, April 9th at 10 AM with Father William K. Matheny, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Kalbaugh Cemetery, Elk Garden. Pallbearers will be Kenny Braithwaite, Brandon Day, Marshall and Louie Stewart, David Gillaspie and Michael Droppleman.
