Benjamin Myers

Benjamin L. Myers, 84, of Aurora, WV, died on Friday, March 3, 2017, at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born on July 5, 1932 in Aurora, he was the son of the late John Denton and Kate (Teets) Myers. He was a graduate of Aurora High School and a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He had worked for Patriot Coal in Morgantown, Garbert Construction, Terra Alta Limestone and Bill Miller Equipment in Frostburg. He was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He also volunteered with the Boy Scouts. Ben enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and, especially, spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 62 years, Opal V. (Shields) Myers; his children, Angela Stevens and husband Richard of Oakland, Jerry Myers and wife Jeannie of Oakland and Michael Myers and wife Sue of Aurora; grandchildren, Bethany and Victoria Stevens, Hannah Myers-Shirer, Ben, Cody, Tanner and Sammy Myers, Linda Mayle, Melissa and Tom Jones; great grandchildren, Elliott, Jacob and Dawson; a brother, John Myers and wife Barbara of Morgantown, WV; a sister, Peggy Myers of Aurora; and numerous nieces and nephews. According to his wishes, Ben was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Aurora United Methodist Church Trustee Fund, c/o Michael L. Myers, 50 Carmel Dr., Aurora, WV 26705. The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is assisting the family with arrangements.
