Benjamin Bell

Benjamin Alan Bell, 32 of Parkersburg, WV, departed this life peacefully at 7:00pm, Sunday, March 11, 2018 in Elkins, following an extended illness. In the hours leading up to his death, he was encircled in love by family and friends, listening to the music of YoYo Ma.
He was born February 16, 1986 in Marietta, Ohio the son of Connie Townsend of Elkins and the late Ronald Gene Bell of Parkersburg.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father David Clinton Parker of Elkins; son Bradin Alan Bell of Mineral Wells; brother Paul David Snyder II of Columbus, OH; sisters Lila Jean Bell Davis of Parkersburg, Jessica Star Bell of Vienna, WV and Rosanna Madeia Bell of Elkins; nieces Laura Rose Shreve of Elkins and Kayla Gainer of Vienna; nephews Roger Richards (Jordan) of Beckley, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, and Kayden Davis of Vienna, and Kyease Anderson of Vienna, step-brothers, David Parker Jr. (Sunday) and Johnnie Featherston (Colette) all of Hendersonville, NC; step-sister Virginia Sparks (James) of Greensboro, NC; Uncles Harry Michael Townsend (Cindy) of Tallahassee, FL; Steven Townsend (Lois) of Washington, WV, Doug Townsend (Linda) of Hamilton, OH, Ronald Townsend (Sherri) of Parkersburg, Wayne Bell of Cutler, OH, Kenneth (Zac) Bell (Tammy), and David Bell of Parkersburg; aunt Robin Bell of Parkersburg; three grand-nephews Waylon, Carson, and Kennedy; and many cousins and close friends. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Aries. Lastly, two very special cousins we’d like to mention are Elaine and Tom Tony-Casey of Second Creek, WV.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Harry Mitchell and Betty Lee Townsend; paternal grandparents Vernon and Loretta Bell; and nephew Joseph Lee Swiger.
Benjamin was employed in the food service industry for a number of years both in food preparation and management. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He loved all kinds of music and enjoyed playing bass guitar. He was a mentor to a Mountaineer Challenge Cadet. He loved people and was always ready to help others. He had a big generous heart, a beautiful smile, and a fun sense of humor. He also enjoyed playing chess and was a lover of old films.
Friends will be received on Saturday, March 17, 2018, from 11am till 2p.m. at Saint Brendan Catholic Church in Elkins, followed by the funeral service at 2p.m. with Deacon Raymond Godwin presiding. A luncheon will be provided by Saint Brendan Catholic Church immediately following the service in the parish hall. There will be a wake to celebrate Benjamin’s life at The Brewstel 120 Davis Ave., Elkins beginning at 5pm. Internment at Saint Brendan Catholic Cemetery will be postponed to a later date.
