Barbara Woodburn

Barbara (Owens) Penn Adams Woodburn, 71, of Swanton MD, recently of Harford County, died on Friday, July 5, 2013 after a recurring battle with breast cancer and other complications. She was born on June 8, 1942 in Denver, CO, she was the daughter of the late William Edwin and Beatrice (Price) Owens. Barbara was a mathematics educator at middle and college levels. She was an avid quilter, knitter and basket weaver, sharing her talents with many friends. She also volunteered for numerous worthy causes and enjoyed entertaining, reading and travel. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Woodburn; two daughters, Jennifer Lerner and Megan Gast; four stepdaughters, Tracy Neidhardt, Kelly Scott, Lauren Woodburn and Paula Harman; and nine grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Penn, and her second husband, Ronald Adams. A memorial service will be held in St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Oakland, MD on Tuesday, July 9th at 10 AM with Rev. Dr. Chip Lee officiating and in Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Bel Air, MD at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions to "It's In the Bag", St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 126 E. Liberty St., Oakland, 21550, where Barbara volunteered, will be greatly appreciated. This is a program for local students requiring assistance with weekend meals.
