Audrey Feld

Audrey (Sperry) Feld, 87, of Oakland died on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Goodwill Retirement Community in Grantsville. Born on July 5, 1925 in Meyersdale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Sperry. She graduated from Meyersdale High School and earned her RN at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland in 1946. In 1947, she met her future husband, Irvin Feld, President of the H-P Stores, while she was providing care to his mother at Memorial Hospital. She was active, over the years, in the Deep Creek Yacht Club, the Oakland Civic Club and was a founding sponsor and long-serving member of the board of directors of the Garrett County Playhouse/Blue Barn Theater. Also, she was an active sponsor of many charities, taking great pride in her efforts on behalf of the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross. Audrey loved Oakland and Deep Creek Lake and enjoyed summers with her family at Turkey Neck. She is survived by two sons, Frederic Irvin Feld of Loveland, CO and Michael Sperry Feld of Tiburon, CA; four grandchildren, Amanda Feld Klein, Tara Feld, Taylor Feld and Corey Feld; two step-grandchildren, Melanie Ebner Ramey and Michael Ebner; two great grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Irvin Feld who died in 1998; a brother, Gordon Sperry; and a sister, Alma Beale. Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Thursday, September 20th from 6 to 8 PM. A private family interment service will take place on Friday at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Ross Glotfelty officiating.
