Audrey Burgess

Audrey Loree Burgess, 99, of Elk Garden, WV died on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Piney Valley Nursing Home in Keyser. Born on February 15, 1917 in Elk Garden, she was the daughter of the late John and Clora (Cosner) Cornell. Audrey was a homemaker who loved spending time gardening and tending to her flowers. She was a fifty plus year member of the Hartmansville United Methodist Church. She is survived by her two sons, Leon Burgess and wife Judy of Elk Garden and Leroy Burgess and wife Loretta of Rawlings; six grandchildren, Jim Burgess, David Burgess, Allena Reddy, Walt Burgess, Tina Shillingburg and Teresa Hanlin; sixteen great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and one step great great grandchild. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Leroy Burgess, in 1991; a brother, Ollvie Cornell; and two half-sisters, Clellie Grapes and Allison Hanlin. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller on Thursday, February 18th from 4 to 7 PM and at Nethken Hill United Methodist on Friday, February 19th from 10 to 11 AM after which time a funeral service will take place. Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery, Elk Garden.
