Arzella Parsons

Arzella T. Parsons, 86, of Oakland died Friday, November 11, 2011 at Oakland Nursing & Rehab Center. Arzella was born November 8, 1925 in Petersburg, WV, the daughter of the late Lester and Nina (Patch) Thorn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don R. Parsons in 1991; two brothers, Paul Thorn and Clyde Thorn; and a sister, Elneta Finley.

Arzella was elected treasurer for Garrett County and served in that position for 20 years. She also served on the State Central Committee and worked for First United Bank and Trust in the marketing department. She was a member of the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren and the Southern Garrett County Republican Women's Club.

She is survived by a son, Don R. Parsons, Jr. of Frostburg; two grandchildren, Don R. Parsons III of Ridgeley, WV and Mathew T. Parsons of Frostburg; two great grandchildren Declan and Colin Parsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Sunday, November 13th from 12 to 3 & 6 to 8 PM at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, MD.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 14th at the Oak Park Church of the Brethren, 110 Church Ln., Mtn. Lake Park, MD with Carl Fike officiating. Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
