Arthur Junior Slaubaugh, 95, went to be with his Lord on January 10, 2020. He was born September 5, 1924 in Horse Shoe Run, West Virginia a son of the late Julius and Iva Sell Slaubaugh.
Mr. Slaubaugh worked for several lumber companies over the years. He worked a team of horses that pulled logs to the landing, he was a tree cutter, and operated the bulldozer to create skid roads. He also worked for the Aurora School for over 13 years. He enjoyed hunting and attending church with his family. He was a founding member of the Fresh Fire Church of God in Red House, Maryland. You could find him on any given day working at the church, clearing more ground and keeping the grass mowed.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Slaubaugh was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Alta Waybright Bennett Slaubaugh. Also preceding him in death were twelve brothers and sisters, one daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
He is survived by six children, Anna Marston of Frankfort, Kentucky, Edward Slaubaugh and wife Nancy of Keyser, West Virginia, Donna Steele and husband George of Eglon, West Virginia, Cline Slaubaugh and wife Susan of New Creek, West Virginia, Louise Gordon and husband Charles of Eglon, West Virginia, Joyce Moran and husband Micheal of Elkins, West Virginia, 16 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, 7 step-great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home, Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 16, at 11:00am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Fresh Fire Church of God in Red House, Maryland with Rev. Tom McGinnis officiating. Interment will follow in Accident Cemetery. Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
