Arletha Moreland

Arletha Glendine Moreland, 89, of Oakland died on Monday, February 27, 2017, at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born on August 19, 1927, in Sang Run, she was the daughter of the late Stuart Austin and Laura Catherine (DeWitt) Merrill. She was a member of the Loch Lynn Church of God. She enjoyed crafting, quilting, gardening, crocheting and, most of all, spending time with her family. She is survived by three sons, Frank Moreland of Keyser, WV, Paul Moreland and wife Brenda of Oakland, and Donald Moreland and wife Elizabeth of Ohio; three daughters, Donna Chungo of Oakland, Sharon Bernard and husband Tom, III of Oakland, and Shirley Durst and husband Mark of Oakland; twenty-two grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Donald Lawrence Moreland, in 2013;a grandson, Clayton Steadman; and siblings, Dorothy Sanders, Mildred Nichols, James H. Fries and Arlington "Shorty" Fries. Friends will be received at the C & S FREDLOCK FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Tuesday, February 28th from 6 to 8 PM and at the Loch Lynn Church of God on Wednesday, March 1st from 10 to 11 AM after which time a funeral service will be held with Pastors Ivan and Cindy Ackerman officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dennett Road Activities Dept., 1113 Mary Dr., Oakland, MD 21550.
