Anthony Susman

Anthony Susman, 85, of Fredericksburg, VA, went home to be with his Lord on January 21, 2025. Born on December 4, 1939, in Thomas, WV, he was the son of the late Andrew and Christine (Knofel) Susman.

After graduating from Mountaineer High School, Anthony served his country in the United States Army. Throughout his career, Anthony dedicated the majority of his life to serving in supply management for the DC Government. He was Catholic by faith. In his personal life, Anthony found joy in simple pleasures. He was an avid sports fan, spending many hours in front of the TV cheering for his favorite teams and sometimes watching two TV's at a time. Bowling was another passion; the lanes were not just a place for sport but a venue for friendship and laughter. He enjoyed music as well, mostly rock. Additionally, Anthony was an avid reader of newspapers, keeping himself well-informed about the world around him.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Deborah Nesler and husband William of Fredericksburg, VA and Audrey Susman of Anchorage, AK; two grandchildren, Kelly Sapp and husband Jacob and Charles Nesler and wife Jennifer; and six great grandchildren Lucas, Benjamin, Zachary and Noah Sapp and Liam and Caden Nesler; niece Jennifer Nelson and nephew Joseph Roland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Donna (Payne) Susman; a son-in-law John Reece; and a sister Virginia Roland and husband Hunter.

The family would like to thank Hughes Home and Mary Washington Hospital Hospice for the wonderful care he received.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM, at the Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home, 567 Thomas Avenue, Davis, WV. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM in the funeral home with Father Martin Smay officiating.
