Anna Sharpless

Anna Jane Sharpless, 90, of Oakland passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Dennett Road Manor. Born on October 31, 1928, in Valley Bend, WV, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Wilson, VII and Emma Virginia (Hacker) Wilson. Anna Jane had worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Jack Liller and had been instrumental in the opening of the Mt. Storm Medical Center. She was an LPN who worked for the former Garrett Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. She was a long-time member of Faith Evangelical Free Church in Oakland having sung in their choir and serving as organist for over 29 years. She was also a member of the Garrett Choral Society. She loved music, especially playing the organ and piano. She dearly loved her family and was very proud of her grandchildren. Anna Jane will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her family and friends. Anna Jane is survived by her children Richard L. Sharpless and wife Wendy of Oakland, Mary Jane Jones and husband Kermit of Elk Garden, John Leslie Sharpless and wife Ardra of Oakland; grandchildren, Richard S. Sharpless, Tommy Sharpless and wife Amy, Paul Jones and wife Tonia, Mary Ann Rose and husband John, David Jones, Jared Jones and wife Ashley, Leslie Rinker and husband Keith, Jeremy Sharpless, Julianna Alt and husband Tyler; great grandchildren, Adam and Jacob Jones, Lillia and Brooke Rose, Maxxwel Harold and Leela Sharpless, Jalynn and Elias Alt, Olivia and Scarlet Jones, Lia and Kamron Rinker; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Thomas Wilson, VIII, William H. Wilson, Daniel B. Wilson and Margaret E. Cosner-Brown; and her former husband and friend, Leslie Harold Sharpless. Friends will be received at the C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland on Sunday, February 17th from 3 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, February 18th at 11 AM with Rev. Matthew Paugh officiating. Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery, Elk Garden, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Faith Evangelical Free Church, 1009 Maryland Hwy, Oakland, MD 21550 or Dennett Road Manor Activities Department, 1113 Mary Drive, Oakland, MD 21550.
