Anna Elizabeth Disharoon, age 102, passed away peacefully at the home of her niece on Saturday, May 16, 2020. She entered this world on August 4, 1917 in Baltimore, MD, born to James Garland Fritts and May Anna (Yates) Fritts. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Marie Mullinix Thayer, husband Francis Teders who was a casualty of WWII, and husband William G. Disharoon. She is survived by Patricia M Mullinix, her niece, and Bud Peed residents of Oakland.
Ann and husband Bill spent most of their adult lives in St. Petersburg, FL. where they worked and built some very strong friendships. Ann was a devout Christian and a member of Clearview United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg for many years. She was a very gentle and caring person who was always ready to help a friend. She was an avid gardener and walker and enjoyed reading and travel. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She moved to Oakland in 2007 to be near her niece and became a member of St. John's Episcopal Church where she again established a strong circle of very dear friends.
A family graveside service will be held in Front Royal, VA on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at noon. A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Chip Lee at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. John's Episcopal Church, PO Box 414, Oakland, MD 21550; or to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.
