Alvin J. Schlabach, 87, Swanton, MD, died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at his home, following a period of declining health.
He was born in Holmes County, Ohio on November 28, 1923. He was preceded in death by his wife Susie (Byler) Schlabach whom he married December 22, 1947; one son Ervin Paul Schlabach and one brother, Sam Schlabach.
He was a member of the Gortner Amish Church ,Oakland, MD.
He is survived by children: Anna & husband Eli Hershberger, Swanton, MD, Celesta & husband Uriah Miller, Swanton, MD, Raymond & wife Savilla Schlabach, Oakland, MD, Marvin & wife Laura Schlabach, Lexington, IND., Mabel & husband Robert Swarey, Guthrie, KY; three brothers, Ervin Schlabach, Guthrie, KY, Mose Schlabach, Kinsman, OH and Ray Schlabach, Guthrie, KY; two sisters, Lydiann Hostetler, Apple Creek, OH and Katie Yoder, Orville, OH; sister-in-law, Mary Schlabach, Ephrata, PA; 21 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Gortner Amish Church, Monday, December 13, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the church. Alvin Beach officiating. Interment will be in the Slabaugh Cemetery.
