Albert Bender

Albert C. Bender, 86, of Oakland went peacefully to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at his home.  Born on November 1, 1930, in Meyersdale, PA, he was the son of the late Clarence and Addie (Yoder) Bender.  He was a faithful member of the Gortner Amish Church.  Farming was not only his occupation but his passion and he remained involved in the farm up to his final days.  He had a caring family by whom he will be missed dearly.  Mr. Bender is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lydia (Yoder) Bender; children, Esther married to Lloyd Beachy of Oakland, Martha Bender of Mount Sterling, KY, Sarah married to Jr. Kauffman of Wytheville, VA, and Henry married to Nancy (Yoder) of Oakland; son in law, Calvin Schrock of Oakland; daughter in law, Rachel (Beachy) Bender of Bedford, PA; grandchildren, Rebbeca Schrock, Joel Schrock married to Ella Mae, Daniel Schrock married to Carol, Ernie Schrock, Nathan Schrock, Dawn married to Chris Miller, Katrina Beachy, Sharon married to Ty Miller, Mike Miller married to Brenda, Linda married to Ron McGuiness, Cindy married to Stewart Salyers, Richard Kauffman married to Mary Ann, Loretta married to Chad Sommers, Jared Bender, Brenda married to Caleb Kanagy, Jaron Bender, Jeneva Bender, Julia Bender, Dianne married to Abe Hostetler, Lori married to James Hostetler and Bethany married to Solomon Hostetler; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Paul Bender; a daughter, Irene Schrock; and his siblings.  Family and friends will be received at the Gortner Amish Church, 4391 Mason School Road, Oakland on Sunday, May 21st from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.  A funeral service will be held in the church on Monday, May 22nd at 10 AM with Bishop Alvin Beachy officiating.  Interment will follow in the Gortner Amish Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Garrett County, PO Box 271, Oakland, MD 21550.  The C & S Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland is assisting the family.
