Aileen Wall

Aileen H. Wall, 86 of Oakland passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home. Born on May 19, 1928 in Grifton, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late John Billy Hardee and Addie (Harris) Hardee. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Atley Thomas Wall, II and son, Raymond T. Wall. Aileen was a member of the Oakland Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and always enjoyed speaking with others about God's Kingdom. Her other passion was gardening. Whether vegetables, flowers, or people, she had a unique ability to make things grow. Aileen was a graduate of Winterville (NC) High School and after graduation went to work for Western Union in Washington DC. She also worked hard as a homemaker and was known to many in the area for making and sharing delicious homemade bread. Mom will be greatly missed by her surviving children, Atley T. Wall, III and wife Kum-Ae, Lillian (Wall) Armstrong, Wanda (Wall) Hogue and husband Harry, and David S. Wall and wife Cindy; as well as grandchildren, John Wall and wife Joan, Tonya (Wall) Shipley and husband Zach, Chelsea (Wall) Doyle and husband Justin, David B Wall and wife Rachel, Michael and Dana Armstrong; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 1 PM in the Oakland Kingdom Hall with a dinner to follow. The Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., Oakland assisted the family with arrangements.
